SUSTAINABLE FABRICS WITH ORGANIC COTTON

Another conscious choice you can make when buying fabrics is to consider the type of cotton used in their manufacture, to use environmentally friendly textiles. Buying organic cotton for sustainable fabrics means purchasing natural fibres which haven’t been subjected to the use of fertilisers, insecticides or pesticides.

The results and benefits of using natural cotton fabric are tremendous: from promoting and enhancing biodiversity and biological cycles, to caring for the farmers who produced the raw material and, at the end of the cycle, taking care of the final wearer with a safer, more sustainable solution.

At Klopman, we use traceable international standards for cotton sourcing.

BETTER COTTON MASS BALANCE APPROACH:
A SUPPLY CHAIN METHODOLOGY

Klopman has been a partner of the Better Cotton programme since 2016
Better Cotton (previously BCI Better Cotton Initiative) is a not-for-profit organisation that exists to help cotton communities thrive and survive, while protecting and restoring the environment.
Through Better Cotton and its partners, farmers receive training on how to use water efficiently, care for the health of the soil and natural habitats, reduce the use of the most harmful chemicals and apply decent work principles. Better Cotton farmers implementing this system are licensed to sell Better Cotton.

THE FAIRTRADE COTTON PROGRAM

Klopman’s range of fabrics made using 100% Fairtrade cotton meet Fairtrade standards validated by Fairtrade (as audited by FLOCERT).
Buying products made with Fairtrade-certified cotton guarantees the empowerment of cotton farmers through better prices, while the payment of the Fairtrade premium also contributes to protecting people and the environment through the prohibition of genetically modified seeds and hazardous chemicals.
