New legislation and industry
standards have been introduced to establish specific
protection requirements that need to be met in
the design, manufacture and provision of protective
clothing.
These requirements are for
the primary protection and safety of the wearer,
protection of the manufacturing process and for
a barrier against cross-infection in critical
hygiene sectors such as food manufacturing and
healthcare.
However, these largely technical
considerations do not remove any of the requirements
for improved wearer comfort, garment appearance
and durability, all of which remain vitally important
factors.
