Clocks are returned
to summertime. After two seasons of experimenting
with shapes, volumes and extremist colours .
. . fashion looks back. We still appreciate being
different, but realise it's just as important
to remain anchored in uncertain times. To express
sophistication and confidence we must choose
among worldwide cultural ref-erences. Familiar
and reassuring authenticity is interpreted in
an individual and often eccentric way. Surprising
combinations are created.
The 30's and 40's are key periods, defined by
their linear elegance and artistic interpretation
of African and Asiatic cultures. The fusion
of contemporary and simple design with stylised
nature, stems from such influences.
Fabrics have their own personality. Never loud,
nor superficial, they allow us to connect to
these cultural references. The designs remain
subtle and less explicit. Only fabric behaviour
plays with extremes . . . from very fluid to
extra rigid, from very light to extra heavy,
and from ultra smooth to soft. Fabrics adapt
themselves to new silhouettes . . . high-waisted,
wide trousers, and short, wide-shouldered jackets.
Colours become more subtle. The directness
of last season's bright hues are replaced by
double-sided shades . . . melancholic pastels
Natural sensitivity
Being at ease with oneself
and one's environment. Appreciating simple elements
which possess a certain sophistication. Practising
true, no frills expression, and discovering real
nobility without attitude. Rediscovering the
sincerity typical of both artist and nature.
Collecting craft objects because of their intrinsic
qualities.
Preferring easy and casual fabrics, full of
authentic references, with traces of wear and
tear. Authentic slub and ring qualities, and
soft and relaxed broken twill in cross dyed
colours, represent a laid-back attitude.
Warm, neutral and authentic denims, without
a hint of aggression.
Mastered lightness
Sending contradicting messages. Appreciating a neat,
clean and monochrome environment. Inspired by
40's futurism, with the vision of a self-controlled and flawless superman.
Including lightness,
nonchalance and sport as inspiration for a better,
freer life, away from the daily hustle.
Starting with strict silhouettes and shapes calculated
to the nearest millimetre . . . becoming more boxy
. . . playing with volumes. Preferring fine and
care-free twills for an impeccable, yet
summery, freedom of style.
Cool neutrals and warmer beige tones that are soft and light.
Positive provocation
Enjoying the city by
day, or by night. Pushing one's limits. Being
certain that we must re-invent and revolutionise
with good intention. Remaining fiercely independent,
and for this reason holding dear, the avant-gardism
of the Soul and Pop music world. Being provocative
in a positive and humoristic manner. Letting
off steam with Techtronic or other expressive,
even explosive, dances. Not being afraid of being
different.
Storming in with outfits in daring designs and
contrasting colours. Cherishing expressive extremes
. . . ultra-slim, blown-up baggy, or indestructible denim.
