Greige
production - Monastir, Tunisia
Fabric
continuity and consistency of performance
is vital, and this is where Klopman's manufacturing
expertise leads the way.
All fabrics are manufactured
to ISO 9001:2008 quality standards using sophisticated
continuous processing technology in Europe's
most advanced and well-equipped production
facility based in Frosinone, Italy.
The entire process,
from the selection of fibres through to
spinning, weaving, colour formulation, dyeing
and finishing is stringently controlled
and monitored throughout.
As a result, the quality,
durability and colour performance, together
with the wash and wear consistency of each
fabric style is maintained.
The
manufacturing process
Fibres
& yarn preparation
Klopman
fabrics are made from blends of cotton,
polyester and a range of other specialist
technical fibres and yarns - and it is
in the choice
of these fibres that quality begins.
For a garment to maintain
its performance it is essential that the
fabric retains long-term integrity.
Only long staple
cotton is used to give a superior result,
with staple polyester specified to meet
Klopman's performance requirements.
Spinning
Significant
investment in state-of-the-art ring spinning
and open-end spinning facilities and the
introduction of advanced yarn technologies
have enabled Klopman to improve product
diversity and quality even further.
In addition, specially-developed
spinning technologies, produced as a direct
result of close collaboration with The Denkendorf
Institute, have brought about significant
improvements in yarn strength.
Weaving
To
obtain optimum results in weaving, Klopman
has invested in air-jet looms, which together
with advanced yarn technology produce greige
fabrics of exceptionally consistent quality
and with differing characteristics of weave.
These include plain,
twill, satin, soft and mechanical stretch
weaves in a range of weights designed to
meet a diversity of end-use applications.
State-of-the-art looms
operate in an atmostphere of total humidity
control, with electronically-controlled
floor to ceiling airflow and electronic
monitoring throughout the whole process
to ensure that the fabric is consistent
in every respect.
The Frosinone weaving
facilities rank amongst the most advanced
in the world, further extending Klopman's
capability to produce even more enhanced
weave and texture variations.
Dyeing
Colour
with absolute consistency is one of the
most distinguishing features of Klopman
fabrics.
Always recognised
for the range, consistency and fastness
performance of its colours, Klopman has
taken fabric dyeing a dramatic stage further.
In yet another innovation
designed to offer greater flexibility, a
continuous dye range has been purpose-designed
by Klopman using the most sophisticated
process technology available.
Also, an automated
colour 'kitchen' enables Klopman to formulate
dye colours quickly and with total accuracy,
together with computerised process control
to ensure enhanced consistency and quality.
In addition to over one hundred standard
on-line colours Klopman also specialises
in producing colours to match and complement
corporate identities as required.
Fabric
finishing
After
dyeing, a choice of finishes, including
sueding and brushing is added to the fabrics.
During this process,
specific properties are also applied, such
as durable press, crease recovery and resistance,
fluid repellency, stain resistance and flame
retardancy.
And prior to final
despatch, once again all finished fabric
is thoroughly checked for quality including
colour and shade in relation to both Klopman's
own specifications and those of the customer.

Klopman
fabrics are world-renowned for their consistently
high quality.
This is due to a combination
of the dedication and expertise of the people
who work at Klopman and substantial on-going
investment in a wide range of systems and
technologies specifically designed to ensure
that the highest standards are maintained
at all times.
In addition to being
fully accredited to ISO 9001:2008, Klopman works
to the highest European Quality Management
standards, observes strict quality control
procedures at all stages of the manufacturing
process and tests to all relevant specifications
and EN standards.
A sophisticated electronic
mapping technique is used to inspect all
finished fabric and before shipment fabric
consignments are bar-coded to ensure that
their progress can be fully monitored to
the point of delivery.
ISO
15797
As
Europe's leading manufacturer of fabrics
for the garment rental industry, Klopman
adheres strictly to the procedures specified
in ISO 15797 the internationally-established
standard for industrial washing and finishing
procedures for the testing of workwear.
In addition, as a
member of the European Textile Services
Association (ETSA) Klopman uses ETSA's test
methods and performance standards including
all physical and colour-fastness parameters.
In order to ensure
that testing accurately reflects industrial
laundering processing Klopman testing is
carried out on industry-standard equipment
including a state-of-the-art tunnel finisher
the first acquired by a fabric manufacturer.
ISO 9001:2008
The
certification by the International Organisation
for Standardisation (ISO) was awarded to
Klopman in 1993 after the company underwent
a period of intensive work bringing systems
and procedures in line with the international
standard. This process was aided by the
existing stringent quality standards within
the organisation, and by the company's commitment
to achieving this internationally recognised
standard. What has taken other companies
several years, Klopman achieved in less
than 12 months.
Öko-Tex
Klopman
was one of the first European textile manufacturers
to become eligible to display the prestigious
Öko-Tex Standard 100 'Confidence in
Textile' label for polyester/cotton blends.
An initiative of the
Austrian Textile Research Institute and
the Hohenstein Research Institute in Germany,
in conjunction with fellow institutes throughout
Europe, the Standard, which is drawn up
by the International Association for Research
and Testing in the field of Textile Ecology
(Öko-Tex), is only awarded to organisations
who can demonstrate that all materials used
in manufacturing are allowed under the standard.
EU
Eco-label
Klopman
is the first polyester cotton fabric manufacturer
to be awarded European Eco-label accreditation.
Specifically
designed to encourage the production
and consumption of goods and services
that respect the environment, under
the EU Eco-label scheme products and
processes are thoroughly and independently
tested according to ecological criteria
which take into account all aspects
of a product's life, from its production
and use to its eventual disposal (cradle
to grave approach).
In today's
world of ever-increasing globalisation
the Eco-label Flower logo makes it
easier for consumers and specifiers
to recognise quality European products
that are less harmful to the environment
and to make informed choices about
the products and services they buy.
The award of the EU
Eco-label means that specifiers and consumers
have the confidence and reassurance of knowing
that Klopman fabrics are manufactured in
an environmentally responsible and sustainable
way.
The
environment
Klopman
never forgets that we all have a responsibility
to protect the environment. It is a concern
that is demonstrated in many practical
ways.
All liquid by-products used in the manufacturing
process are neutralised before discharge
into an on-site effluent treatment plant
and wherever possible water is recycled.
Air extraction systems throughout the plant
ensure that the air
expelled is constantly filtered and purified
. And because the cotton fibres
chosen by Klopman are of a high quality
of whiteness there is a reduced need for
processing to achieve finished fabrics
with
exceptional whiteness.
